Tropic Thunder

What to say about Tropic Thunder...hmm....what to say. Well, let's start with this. I haven't laughed this much since I was abnormally drunk in Las Vegas with two Russian Strippers and a 20$ bill. Yeah, good times. Back to Tropic Thunder, however. This is a total parody comedy in every sense of the word, starring Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downing Jr., and whoever the other guys are. Ben Stiller plays Tugg Speedman, a dying action hero, while Jack Black's character derives his laughs from gross farting noises, and did I mention Robert Downing Jr. plays a 5-time academy award winning Australian actor? This movie is explosive in laughs, and will bust your gut all over the floor in a bloody but enjoyable fashion. Politically incorrect, but still entertaining. The movie's opening advertisements bring about spontaneous laughter and the kind of absurdity that i just love so much. Then they roll into an epic war battle that wreaks with funny remarks and actions. After I settled down a bit , the movie laid down it's primary plot. I had to admit, I went into the theater with high expectations, and was relieved with a not so delightful but raunchy comedy. I also have to admit, aside from the parodied comedy, and nasty comic jokes, this movie also possesses some cleverness in it's comedy. The whole movie itself IS parody. It totally taunts Hollywood, and makes fun of every aspect and detail of the film business, in addition to the decisively prima donna behavior. But even all this glamorous humor has a downside. Towards the middle, the movie's laughing pace slows down, and almost comes to a complete halt, until the climax which brings back the pounding laughter the theater shook with before.

Final Thoughts:
an outlandishly entertaining comedy, not recommending for family viewing, it certainly is fun to watch, it's witty, and has a much more developed plot than most comedies. All in all, if you can settle with a slow middle, this is a comedy not to be missed.
